Tell your own story

ARTISTA is a free theatre mentorship program for women, gender-diverse, trans, and non-binary people, ages 17-22. It empowers participants to tell their own stories and share these stories with the world. Mentors and guest artists (accomplished artists with diverse practices) guide participants in crafting stories, exploring performance creation through theatrical experimentation, and supporting them toward a public performance.

Our supportive and brave learning environment encourages participants to develop independence, self-confidence, their artistic vocabulary and craftmanship, and gain a sense of community.

Each meeting is an opportunity to gather, share, discuss, and collectively turn their minds toward the world. Participants engage in creation workshops focusing on a variety of theatre practices.

Attending ARTISTA, and live performances as a group, gives insight into the diverse facets of the Montreal and the Canadian theatre industry and nurtures participants’ critical thinking and artistic vocabulary.
